I think Johnson and Thune have to put up a bill extending the ACA credits for another year, or face a catastrophic backlash in the next election. What I fear is that Republicans will attach the "health insurance plans" you cite to the bill, and Democrats will have no choice but to vote for it. Then the (R)'s will be able to claim that they "solved" the health insurance crisis, and not have to face up to their failure until after the mid-terms, if at all.

I’m not concerned. Dems have raised the issue to the American public. Politics are against the Republican agenda and will play to Dem advantage in 2026. Minimal advantage in continuing shutdown. Lots of negative publicity for Republicans as new premiums kick in and dominate news. Republicans will offer some free market alternatives mostly tailored to upper middle class. Will not be enough in face of issues for poor people.
