I read Prasad's book Malignant among other things, and it persuaded me he was a stickler for rigorous, uncorrupted evidence. I guess he was not incorruptible. I agree about top down, especially when the top is rotten.

I am curious as to the use of the descriptive “unscientific drift” in the subtitle.

What part of science does the “unscientific drift” warrant?

Is it in trial design, trial conduct, trial interpretation, or promotion of trial conclusions by industry.

You correctly point out that the STAT hit piece originated from an online infomercial run by PharMa. Is it possible that the upheaval is welcomed by some of us who believe that the regulatory authority indeed should be divorced from industry influence, and that the tactics used to retake control of the process is going to be combative?
