Gooz, I have posted for years that America already has a shadow national health care system - the DOD Tricare system for active and retired service members. Making it a national program for all would likely not even require an increase in staffing, just everybody in Medicaid and medicare learning how the DOD system prices services and medication. Medical services are capped. For retirees, we must be on Medicare B, but that is all, and all my treatments, surgeries, and meds are free to me.

As a political matter, the Democrats would be smarter to push a single payer comprehensive system, instead of more complexity. As an economic matter, a single payer comprehensive system will be cheaper.
