How journalists see Medicare Advantage
You can watch my presentation at the recently concluded Medicare Advantage summit, followed by a panel discussion
I recently had the opportunity to publicly offer a critique of federal overpayments to Medicare Advantage plans and how best to curb those plans’ upcoding abuses. The occasion was the fourth annual Medicare Advantage summit, which brought together a broad cross section of health care policy wonks.
My presentation was followed by a panel discussion with Mark Miller, a columnist for the New York Times and Reuters, whose most recent book is Retirement Reboot: Commonsense Financial Strategies for Getting Back on Track; and Bob Herman, who covers the business of health care for Stat News.

Thank you Merrill. I have a much better idea of how things are working in US health plans now.
I made the mistake of letting somewhat take me to an emergency room on a trip to California in 2018. They took my information. Did some tests and gave me the results. About 9 months (Maybe more) later I got a U$6,000 dollar bill. I sent in U$100, for while I was working out a possible reduction in the overall cost and a plan for payment , but I never got an acknowledgement on the U$100, and they quit writing to me.
