“One’s life expectancy varies dramatically depending on where one lives, the economic conditions in that location, and one’s racial and ethnic identity.”
I think the GQP wants these metrics. The cruelty is the goal. They want to oppress and subjugate ‘those’ people. If they manage to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA, not to mention the Indian Health Service… well, welcome to Somalia.
Yep. I don't even think the Dems care that much either, cuz they too have supported things driving increased inequality. As long as the capitalists prosper, who gives a damn about the rest?
My repost: Merrill Goozner brings this Kaiser Family Foundation article to our attention, pointing out the measurable significance of social determinants of health and access to quality health care on life expectancy in stark contrast to international benchmarks. The failure of many states to expand Medicaid coverage under provisions of the Affordable Care Act left statistics of damaged lives in their wake. With the new administration's emphasis on dismantling everything that sniffs of DEI, I hope that the American public will push back when it comes to health care access. The Health Equity Index for Medicare Stars pushes in the right direction, so I pray that is not undermined in the four years to come.
